MISSION TRIPS

Make an Impact Abroad

At Frontier Horizon, our Mission Trips offer a unique opportunity to make a profound difference in the lives of vulnerable children and their communities. These trips are more than just a chance to travel; they are journeys of compassion, connection, and meaningful action. By joining us, you become a vital part of our mission to bring hope, joy, and lasting change to those who need it most.

Understanding Mission Trips

Once you have decided to join a Frontier Horizon Mission Trip, you will have the opportunity to directly support and engage with children in their home countries. These trips are about more than just traveling; they are about connecting with children through meaningful activities, providing essentials, and creating joyful moments. Whether it’s participating in arts and crafts, playing sports, or organizing fun events, your presence and involvement make a world of difference.

Throughout the trip, you’ll not only offer emotional support but also help fulfill immediate needs through our Wishlist Giving program, providing toys, essentials, and other gifts that bring joy and comfort to the children. You’ll meet these incredible kids where they are, learning about their cultures and daily lives, and showing them that there are people in the world who genuinely care about their well-being.

By the end of the mission trip, you will have developed deep bonds with the children, leaving a lasting impression of kindness and compassion. Although the trip will come to an end, the impact you make will continue to resonate. Many volunteers stay connected with the children and communities they serve, helping to assess their ongoing needs and provide continued support in various ways. A mission trip is just the beginning of your journey to make a difference; it’s a chance to be a lasting source of hope and encouragement in the lives of these children.

Camp Dreamland

One of our regular Mission Trips is to Camp Dreamland, a haven in the Carpathian mountains where Ukranian children are provided sanctuary from the daily challenges of war. At Camp Dreamland, volunteers create a joyful and safe space filled with fun activities, friendship-building experiences, and emotional support, helping children heal and grow.

Volunteer and Ukrainian boy enjoying summer camp

It’s been a wonderful time with the orphan children from the central and eastern part of Ukraine. They arrived by bus after a long but fun night together, and are in three separate camps, mainly divided by age. The ages are 6 to 16. The purpose of our camp is to provide kids in a war zone a week away from bombs overheard, intermittent electricity, and the stress of constant news from the nearby front. Many have lost parents and family members, and this year, my friend Janelle (through her company Preferred Partners) sponsored trauma training for our counselors so they could identify the most at-risk children, and help them. This hasn’t been a possibility until now, and we want to help the children so they’re ready when they go back East. What I am reminded of every time I visit is that when you give of your self, everyone is better off. The kids win because they show up anxious and with wants, and their immediate needs are taken care of. As a volunteer, I’m better off because I’m forced to be outside my comfort zone, and the friendship and love of the kids is pretty overwhelming.
