At Frontier Horizon, we often meet families whose strength and resilience leave a lasting impression. Recently, our local team in Nicaragua connected with a young mother whose story reminds us why this work matters so much.
Her name is Yelba, and she is only 30 years old.
Yelba’s life began with hardship. She was abandoned as a baby and grew up as an orphan after losing her mother when she was just one year old. Today, she is raising four small children on her own.
Among them are 17-month-old triplets — Gael, Johan, and Jared — and their 3-year-old sister, Linda.

A Mother Doing Everything She Can
Despite overwhelming challenges, Yelba is deeply devoted to her children.
She works whenever she can find opportunities — cleaning homes, washing clothes, and ironing for others — doing whatever is necessary to provide for her family. Work is not always steady, and finding safe housing has been difficult.
Right now, Yelba and her children move from place to place depending on the kindness of others who are willing to offer temporary shelter.
Even in the midst of instability, her commitment to her children never wavers.
